Sunday: Our Travel Day

Today was a long day of traveling. Everything from our bus ride to getting our bags checked in and getting through security went well.  We had a great flight and arrived safely in San Antonio.  We got our bags and loaded up our rental vehicles and then stopped for lunch at a place called Lee's Taco Garage.  This restaurant was recommended by some locals I sat next to on the plane. It was a great place to get a dose of some of the local Tex Mex cuisine.  We enjoyed our food and had some good fellowship before getting back in the vehicles for our 2 1/2 hour drive over to Rockport.

We were definitely thankful for the AC in our vehicles as we made our trip.  The outside temperature was at or above 100 for a good chunk of the time.  We also drove through some pretty cool storms and enjoyed the awesome scenery along the way.

We arrived at 1st Baptist Church, our home for the week, around 5:15.  We checked in, went through the rules and details of the week and grabbed a quick bite at Whataburger before heading back for our evening chapel service with the other team members.

Right now students are enjoying checking out the grounds and getting acclimated.  We are quite beat and definitely ready for some shut-eye.  It will be busy this week.  Our job will be  installing dry wall at one of the homes that is being reconstructed. We will see how we hold up to the heat. We would appreciate your prayers throughout the week.  We are excited to see how God will use us in the days ahead.
